Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam

We contacted the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam to ask if they might be able to help us with growing some of the flower specimens. As it happened, the Hortus was preparing for ‘The Tulip: Wild and Tempting’, an exhibition which includes some of the botanical species of tulips, the ‘original’ wild tulip varieties as well as cultivated hybrids. Among them is the Tulipa stapfii, the Kurdistanic tulip featured in the Brueghel still life.

Our special thanks goes to Hanneke Schreiber the head of Hortus garden and collection for her complicity in providing us a Tulipa stapfii specimen.
